Denver and Seattle are the next cities that Wing and Walmart are expanding their drone delivery service to metros.
The expansion, set to begin on 2027, builds on drone delivery access to more than three million customers across major U.S. metropolitan areas, including Dallas-Fort Worth, Atlanta, Houston and Orlando.
The new metros continue Wing and Walmart’s progress toward reaching more than 270 total Walmart stores coast-to-coast. In turn, this will bring drone delivery to over 40 million customers across some of the largest metros in the nation.
Walmart and Wing Add Denver and Seattle to Drone Delivery Expansion
Once drone delivery is available, customers using the Walmart app or shopping on Walmart.com will automatically see drone delivery as an option if eligible. Customers will also be able to place an order through the Wing app.
“Expanding drone delivery to Seattle and Denver is about giving more customers a practical option when they need something quickly,” said Greg Cathey, Senior Vice President, eCommerce Transformation, Walmart, in a statement. “Walmart’s stores put everyday items close to the communities we serve, and Wing helps bring those items to customers’ homes in minutes.”
Drone Delivery Gives Walmart Shoppers Faster Access to Everyday Essentials
Wing is expanding the nation’s largest residential drone delivery footprint to even more regions with a range of weather conditions and community needs. The fleet is made up of two of the industry’s lightest-weight aircraft, which are used to complete thousands of residential deliveries each day. Cruising at speeds up to 60 mph, Wing’s aircraft can carry up to five pounds and deliver tens of thousands of Walmart items.
“Adding new metros to our expansion speaks to how quickly people across the country are adopting drone delivery,” said Heather Rivera, Chief Business Officer at Wing. “We’re excited to serve the needs of busy families in nearly 20 major markets spanning diverse communities and climates by delivering the everyday items these families need fast.”
