SAN FRANCISCO – WooCommerce, an ecommerce platform powering more than four million online stores globally, has named Square as its preferred point of sale (POS) solution for in-person payments.
The designation builds upon the companies’ long-standing partnership, providing WooCommerce’s merchant base with an integrated solution for bridging online and in-person commerce. This strategic partnership enables synchronization of inventory, orders, and customer data across digital and physical retail environments.
“Our strong relationship with Square has consistently delivered value to WooCommerce merchants over the years,” said Web Griebel, head of Payments and Business Development at WooCommerce. “By confirming Square as our preferred point-of-sale partner, we’re reaffirming both companies’ deep commitment to merchant choice and success. Together with Square, we’ll continue to provide millions of Woo merchants with the industry’s best-in-class payment platform to help them meet customer demand and grow their businesses across all sales channels.”
WooCommerce, which powers more than 30% of all online stores, continues to focus on expanding its ecosystem through strategic partnerships that enhance merchant capabilities. The Square preferred POS integration is available to WooCommerce merchants in eight markets, including the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, and Ireland.
“WooCommerce powers an incredible diversity of online sellers — from boutique retailers to global brands — and we’re thrilled to deepen our partnership with this vibrant merchant community,” said Vijay Vachani, head of Partnerships at Square. “Our shared mission has always been about empowering businesses to succeed, whether they’re selling online, in-person, or both. By bringing together WooCommerce’s flexible ecommerce platform with Square’s trusted commerce solutions, we’re making it easier for sellers all over the world to grow their business across any channel while delivering the seamless experiences their customers expect.”
