Amazon seller events are chock-full of information to help you succeed in the internet retail environment. Speakers and workshops are tailored specifically to help you optimize and refine your online selling experience.

If you are considering attending, or if you have attended in the past but felt like you didn’t get everything out of it as you would have liked, below are a few tips to help you maximize your conference experience.

1. Come Prepared

Few things are more distracting than thinking about all of the things you have to do back in the office. Before you leave for a conference, be sure to delegate out your responsibilities. This leaves you free to listen, take notes, and network without constantly answering emails or checking your phone. Touch base with your team every so often but don’t spend your days fielding calls. If your office team is properly trained, they should be able to keep things ticking along smoothly for the few days you’re away.

You don’t want to be left high and dry where your tech is concerned. Make sure that you bring enough power to get you through. Bring power cords, chargers, and portable battery packs so that you are well-equipped to type notes, research details, and network as needed.

Lastly, prior to attending the conference, do your homework. Learn the lay of the land so that you can get where you need to go on time. Read about workshops and speakers before the conference so you can make yourself a schedule to optimize your time and energy while in attendance.

2. Get Out of Your Comfort Zone

This suggestion runs twofold: meet as many people as you can and be receptive to new ideas. It is tempting to find a group of like-minded individuals and stick with them through the whole conference but that would be doing you a disservice. Sit with different people during each session, break, and mixer. Share ideas and learn about what makes their companies successful. Just think: you will be surrounded by hundreds of sellers, and they’re willing to share their success stories with you.

The other side of that coin is to keep yourself open to new ideas. These conferences are designed to stretch your business knowledge and give you new tricks that have proven successful in other companies. Being receptive to even the most outlandish ideas could help you modify your own business strategy for the better.

3. Network, Network, Network

Just about everybody at these conferences wants to strengthen their business plan, so make the most of your time there by networking. Post-speaker mixers in the lounge are a great way to mingle with selling, marketing, and managing experts. Additionally, vendors are an excellent resource for you. They aren’t solely there to sell you products; they also want you to succeed and they have the experience to help you do just that. Don’t be afraid to ask as many questions as you can to help your company progress.

4. Set Goals and Stick with Them

When you leave the conference, you’ll be pretty fired up about new business strategies. Don’t let that flame go out. Write down your new goals and follow through. Begin implementing your new plans as soon as you walk out of those doors and be persistent until you meet your goals.

It’s the perfect time to be an online seller because there are so many resources available to support your business in the current climate. It’s good to attend Amazon sellers events but it’s great to take it to the next level by really digging in and getting the most out of your experience there.
