LAS VEGAS – Amazon Ships in Product Packaging (SIPP) is back at Prosper Show 2025. SIPP is an Amazon program that enables sellers who use Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) to deliver products to customers in their own brand packaging.
SIPP aims to reduce packaging waste and improve the unboxing experience for customers. Sometimes the best solution is to use the packaging that already exists—which is the product’s original packaging.
“Rather than a brown Amazon box appearing on the customer’s doorstep, sellers who participate in our program have the opportunity to put their brand at the forefront of the delivery experience,” says Kirsten Freiheit, head of North America Selling Partner Engagement, Sustainable Packaging. “With SIPP, sellers can customize their packaging—such as including QR codes with opportunities for customers to connect with their brand—making the customer experience more convenient and engaging.”
Since SIPP allows sellers to ship items without Amazon-added material, it helps sellers reduce packaging, embed more sustainable practices into their delivery experience, and show customers they are being intentional about their environmental footprint.
On the financial side, FBA Sellers can benefit from discounts on fulfillment fees per certified item. Discount ranges for items shipped in the U.S. can be seen here. Freiheit points out that there are additional indirect cost savings opportunities as well. For example, by redesigning and right-sizing the packaging, some products may be able to move to a lower fee tier resulting in lower costs.
“Sellers can potentially benefit from reductions in unexpected inbound prep fees,” Freiheit adds, “as well as potential reductions in product damages since items will be in packaging designed for and certified in our program—and thus tested to confirm that the package is likely to withstand ecommerce fulfillment.”
Sellers attending Prosper Show 2025 can join the SIPP Learning Lounge presentation on Wednesday, March 26 at 10:40 a.m. PT and visit the SIPP booth (#371) in the Amazon Neighborhood to learn more about the program, review the steps to test and enroll ASINs, and see examples of SIPP-certified packages designed for ecommerce.
